Willow Weep For Me

June 19, 2007

Words and music: Ann Ronell

Willow weep for me, willow weep for me,
Bend your branches green along the stream that runs to sea,
Listen to my plea, listen willow weep for me,
Gone my lover’s dream, lovely summer dream,
Gone and left me here to weep my tears into the stream,
Sad as I can be – Hear me willow and weep for me.

Whisper to the wind to say that love has sinned
To leave my heart aching and making this moan,
Murmur to the night to hide her starry light,
So none will find me sighing and crying all alone,
Weeping willow tree, weep in sympathy,
Bend your branches down along the ground and cover me,
When the shadows fall, bend oh willow and weep for me.

To leave my heart aching and making this moan,
So none will find me sighing and crying all alone,
Weeping willow tree, weep in sympathy,
Bend your branches down along the ground and cover me,
When the shadows fall, bend oh willow,
Bend oh willow and weep for me.

Verdant Smells Ocean Part One

June 19, 2007

there’s grey all around and you’re a glint of verdant green. A patch of soft lawn beneath a peppy tree on a southwest sunny day in April. Where I’d like to stretch out my blanket and lie watching shadows flicker. Smelling ocean. I want you to be the flickering shadows, dark and light, shape changing. I want you to be the spaces betwwen the bark keeping safe and fed ants and spiders and beetles and geckos. I want you to be the branches of the tree stretching out to provide the shade. And the trunk to lean on rippling and corrugated through my sundress.

fox

June 12, 2007

i met a fox at a party. a pretty little fox that wingled and wangled his way into conversations beside the warm fireside. he wasn’t even frightened by my shivering skin and vanities. i told him i wanted soft warm coat and he should look out. his eyes met mine, a tooth just slipping from between the softest smile. his fine hair looking smooth and delightfully tactile in the warm flickering glow.
